Based on a yellow 996 biposto. To start, I love this motorcycle so much ! I rode tail of the dragon and other cool roads around many times before I started to modify the bike.
I’m French, lost in Tennessee. And I don’t see so many cafe racer around. So I made my own but I did not want to give up on performance by modifying an old Japanese bike.
The build is simple:
New wheels, kineo, slightly modified to fit the 996
Basic Aftermarket headlight
Motogadget turn lights
Cheapest Chinese gas tank, arrived rusted and full of dents. I just polished it, kept the defects and varnish it all
The seat is just 2 skate board decks. One for structure (padded by Tuffside) the other is carrying the rear light and the seat itself.
Black out some pieces
Make a bottom fairing from the old fairing
Custom two in one short exhaust with a valve for noise canceling for race track events
Some bits of leather and voila !
Biggest challenge was integrating the fuel pump in the Chinese gas tank, welding thin sheet metal and learn sewing leather
